Grand finale....

By Chearsley CC

oh what a night

As if events at Lords last Sunday weren’t enough, Chearsley Juniors’ season also reached a fitting climax in the glorious sunshine of Monday and Tuesday evenings this week.

Monday evening saw our table-topping Under 9s battling in a fine contest with Aston Rowant, the Northern Division winners of the Aylesbury & District Midweek League. Although Chearsley lost this final, the team (Joaquim B, Kit C, Sam G, Sophia G, Charlie H, Luke R, Harry W, Sophie S, Hamish W) put up a spirited fight against strong opponents. This all bodes very well, as nearly all of this season’s team will still be eligible to play in this age group next year.

Many congratulations to all our other sides – Under 11s, 13sand 15s, who also put in some fine performances in their respective leagues during the season. The final placings can be viewed on this link.

Tuesday evening saw the 'End of Season' players awards take place at the pavilion.

Angela Gray reported on another successful season for the club. Player registrations have passed the 100 mark and around half our members are girls. Our membership also includes around 20 players in our ‘All Stars’ Under 7s section. Angela also highlighted a significant increase in boys joining our older age groups, which will ensure a continuing supply of promising talent moving into senior cricket at the club.

The coaches have forwarded the names of 10 of our youngsters (five girls and five boys) for the Bucks Cricket Board 2020 Pathway Nominations.

Adam Lazaruk extended his appreciation to all the club cricketers for their terrific commitment both in training and playing matches, before presenting the awards. Head Coach, Leigh Tomlinson, hoped that more payers from the older age groups would attend more specialised ‘one to one’ training on Thursday evenings next season
