Victory for the Villagers

Buckingham 3 v Chearsley 1

Buckingham 3 v Chearsley 1

The firsts travelled to Winslow to take on Buckingham's third string. James Veness won the toss and chose to bat. They were soon in trouble losing himself and fellow opener Andy Crichton cheaply. This brought together Mark Claridge (34) together with Charlie Parker playing his first game of the season. They added 34 before the latter fell to a loose shot. Claridge was helped by Duncan Sratford who made 27 and when the former was out, Ed Holland top scored with 47. However when both these were out the innings fell away and they gifted their opponents an over by being dismissed on the last ball of the 52nd over for 170. B Valambhia was the hosts best bowler with 4 for 38.

The hosts made a reasonable start and most of the batsmen made double figures without going on past 20. The exception was no 3 Tim Riley who held the innings together with a well made 51, however a rare rush of blood saw him dismissed immediately after reach his half century and whereas the home team were favourites this changed. Richard Pengelly with 24 seemed to hold the key but he ran out of partners and the innings finished at 156 in the 45th over giving Chearsley a win by the narrow margin of 15 runs. Ed Holland finished with 5 for 37 and Charlie Parker took 3 for 39.
